What is ASD?

ASD or Autism Spectrum Disorder, is a lifelong neurological disorder that affects the way a person communicates and relates to the people and world around them. ASD can affect behaviour, social interactions, and one’s ability to communicate.

What is ABA?

ABA or Applied Behaviour Analysis, is the process of systematically applying interventions, based upon the principles of learning theory, to improve socially significant behaviours to a meaningful degree. ABA teaches social, motor, and verbal behaviours, as well as reasoning skills.

What is IBI?

IBI or Intensive Behavioural Intervention, refers to the application of principles of ABA in an intensive setting to result in behaviour change and improvement. Usually delivered by a trained behaviour therapist at the childs home or in a private space one-on-one.

What is ABLLS?

The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (The ABLLS) is a comprehensive skills-based system of assessment, curriculum, and tracking system that addresses the basic language and functional skills of an individual with autism and other developmental delays. It is used as a tool to help develop customized curriculums (program plans) to teach language and other critical skills to children with autism or other developmental disabilities.

The ABLLS focuses on 25 skills in the areas of speech/language, social interaction, self-help, academic, and motor skills that most typically developing children need prior to entering grade 1

Do you offer Centre based programming?

Currently we do NOT provide Centre based programming, however we are connected to a variety of drop-in centres and other community resource centres.

Do you take private clients or only funded clients?

Beyond the Door provides services for funded and private clients.
